Speaking

Jason Alba is a professional speaker having spoken to hundreds of audiences (from small to large) and touching tens of thousands of people.  Here are some presentations (each is catered to the audience: university, corporate, association, organization, etc.):

Career Management 2.0
(45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes)

Jason’s most popular presentation to professionals in transition. This presentation delivers modern, street-smart information that helps the audience transform their ideas on job security, job search and their professions into an exciting future. Jason shares stories, experiences and examples to paint the picture of today and tomorrow’s career opportunities and empowers each audience member to own their career future.

Points Covered:

  • What happened to Job Security, and what has it evolved to?
  • Where do networking and personal branding fit in?
  • How does technology play a part in your career management?
  • What are specific TO DO items I must do right now?
  • What does a long-term career management strategy look like?

101 Alternatives to a Real Job: Options = Hope

(45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes)
Feeling frustrated in your job search? Are you on the path to be a 99er (or worse, a 198er!)?

One afternoon I was having lunch with Dick Bolles, author of What Color is Your Parachute, and his wife, Marci. Dick said something that profoundly touched me: “ours is a message of giving people alternatives. And when people have alternatives, they have hope.” I remembered in my struggling, failing job search, how hopeless I felt. When I figured out some alternatives, found hope, and that hope changed everything.

This new presentation is based on the pending book 101 Alternatives to a Real Job, which should be released in early 2012. Many of the 101 Alternatives are stories and examples of people I’ve met across the country who, like you, are frustrated in the job search. Some are stories of people who have dropped out of the job search and are creating a comfortable living doing this exclusively, other stories are ideas I brainstormed with the frustrated job seeker, and I can only hope they seriously thought about moving foward.

In this presentation I’ll share some behind-the-scenes examples, and why I’m so excited about the concept of finding, or creating alternatives to a Real Job. I’ll also share some business-sense I learned along the way that might help you as you prepare to start your own business, whether you are hoping to earn $100 a month, or $10,000 a month.

Getting more out of LinkedIn

(45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 2 hours, 4 hours)

LinkedIn is the 800lb guerrilla in the professional networking arena. It is smaller (in signups) than Twitter and Facebook but the networkers are a different type of person, and come to the site with professional and business purpose. This presentation helps you understand what LinkedIn is, where the value comes, and how to get proactive and reactive value from this powerful network.

Points Covered:

  • Introduction to LinkedIn – where’s the value?
  • Optimizing your Profile to BE FOUND
  • Finding key contacts – how to turn over the best rocks
  • Sharing your Personal Brand in LinkedIn
  • How to nurture individual relationships with LinkedIn tools
  • Developing the right strategy for you on 2 minutes or 2 hours a week

Your Business: From Zero to Sixty: How to have an On Purpose business
(60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes)

Jason became an accidental entrepreneur after realizing his job search was failing. After four years of being in business, consciously thinking about long-term strategy and short-term tactics, dealing with financing and cash flow, and creating his own marketing and PR systems, he’s finally ready to share what it is that got him from zero to sixty in four years. This presentation mix of common business principles with current technology opportunities, networking with branding, and drives people to think about having a business that is more on-purpose than consequential. The audience will leave empowered, filled with ideas and encouragement, and maybe a new resolution to help them deal with their current challenges.

Based on the book Eight Lunches, a dialog between two entrepreneurs, helping entrepreneurs have a more on-purpose business.

Points Covered:

  • Why is your business one that might fail in the next two years?
  • Could it be possible your business is failing right now, but you just don’t know it?
  • What systems you must have in place to control your business, instead of allowing your business to control you.
  • What are the basics you like to ignore, and why you can’t ignore them (understand why they are principles for any successful business)
  • How to get there from here – creating a roadmap to help your business go from where you are now to where you’ve always thought it would be.
  • When to know if you should just throw in the towel, and what your career options might include.
